Gunmen attack Kenyan Deputy President Ruto's residence

Gunmen attack Kenyan Deputy President Ruto's residence

The security official said Ruto had left his home shortly before the attack to attend a campaign rally with Kenyatta.

Heavy roadblocks have been erected on all roads leading to DP William Ruto's Sugoi home where a security operation was expected to last overnight following an attack early Saturday.

The intruder was later forced to hide at a building under construction after reinforcement was called, added the IG.

A senior area police chief said the armed assailants stormed the home and still held up in the premises, Xinhua news agency reported.

A man armed with machete was behind an attack on the home of Kenya's deputy president in the western town of Eldoret in which a guard was injured, police said on Saturday.

Perez also said the health law helped more than 14,000 people get on Medicaid and 300,000 people who had a pre-existing condition. I urge every senator to reject this cruel measure.

According to Capital FM Radio, unknown gunmen struck the home around noon Saturday, moments after Ruto left to campaign with the president for re-election in the August 8 vote.

Mr Kenyatta is seeking re-election next month.

Typically the deputy president's residence is guarded by an elite paramilitary police unit.

In the Rift Valley, hate speech flyers have been circulating and some local residents have already left their homes.

Analysts have been anxious about violence around the election and the Islamist extremist group Al-Shabab recently threatened to disrupt the vote. NTV News said gunshots could still be heard from the scene.
