Warner Bros. Debuts First Teaser for Steven Spielberg's 'Ready Player One'

On Saturday, as part of the Warner Bros. panel, director Steven Spielberg revealed footage from his latest movie, Ready Player One at San Diego Comic-Con.

Set in the near future, Ready Player One follows outcast teenager Wade Watts (Sheridan), who escapes from his bleak surroundings by logging in to the OASIS, a globally networked virtual utopia where users can lead idyllic alternate lives. Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) becomes the first player to successfully navigate the first level of the test, sparking a high-stakes global race to crack the game's code. In case it's not yet obvious, before watching this trailer I had little to no idea what Ready Player One was and without the synopsis above I honestly still wouldn't.

The futuristic movie features such 80s icons as The Iron Giant, Freddie Krueger, and the DeLorean from Back to the Future.

When the creator of an MMO called the Oasis dies, he releases a video in which he challenges all Oasis users to find his Easter Egg, which will give the finder his fortune.

Hair, nail, bone samples taken from Dali's body for paternity test
Four people carrying a coffin entered the Dali Theater Museum on Thursday, one hour after doors closed to visitors. Forensic experts made the discovery after his embalmed body was exhumed for DNA testing.

The film brings author Ernest Cline's celebrated YA novel to the screen, combining '80s pop-culture nostalgia and post-apocalyptic sci-fi.

Because Wade Watts will exist in the Oasis for most of the movie, the pop culture references started coming quick in the trailer. The film is set to hit theaters on March 30, 2018.

Spielberg is known for frequently collaborating with specific actors - namely Tom Hanks and Harrison Ford - and Ready Player One marks the third collaboration between him and Rylance over the past two years or so.

The film also stars Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, Mark Rylance, Simon Pegg, T. J. Miller, Hannah John-Kamen, Win Morisaki and Philip Zhao.
