Dick Advocaat backs transfer stance of Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk

The Reds have only been successful in signing Mohamed Salah, Dominic Solanke and Andrew Robertson this summer, their interest in Van Dijk and Naby Keita plagued with difficulty.

Peter Moore has urged Liverpool fans to remain calm about the club's transfer business.

Van Dijk has been training away from the first team and played no part in their pre-season matches having told manager Mauricio Pellegrino he wants to leave the club.

Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier has slammed the rebellious Virgil van Dijk, in an interview to the talkSPORT this Wednesday.

Southampton are adamant that the club captain is not for sale but the Times reports that their stance could change should Chelsea submit a substantial offer.

Nicolas Maduro slams U.S. sanctions against Venezuela
Opposition leaders had called for a boycott of the vote, declaring it rigged for the ruling party. "But we'll die fighting them". The new Constituent Assembly will allow Maduro's government to rewrite the country's constitution and will grant him more power.

Earlier this summer, Liverpool were forced to make an embarrassing public climb-down after Southampton accused them of making an illegal approach for Van Dijk.

"I can't say more, because the situation is that the boy is aside from the team because he doesn't want to play for us".

Since the end of last season, Van Dijk has been heavily linked with a move to either Liverpool, Manchester City or Chelsea, but the Saints insist that their skipper will not be leaving St Mary's. "It's inevitable that a lot of good players want to ply their trade in Spain but the situation with the length of contract has to count for something".

The Netherlands worldwide has been one of Jurgen Klopp's priority targets for the summer window, although Liverpool were forced to issue a public apology to Southamtpon earlier this summer after details of the German's persistent pursuit of the player were made public.

The 26-year-old has attracted the attention of Merseyside club Liverpool and it is understood that the frustrated centre-back is determined to make the move to Anfield this summer.
