Swiss hotels under fire over signs directed at Jewish guests

However the photo has since gone viral, attracting condemnation from many, including Israel's deputy foreign minister Tzipi Hotovely, who called it "an ugly display of anti-Semitism" and told the press she had spoken to the Israeli ambassador to Switzerland about the issue.

The notice has since been removed by the hotel manager, who says there was a misunderstanding. "I hope you understand that our team does not like being disturbed all the time", it read.

In the past, the Paradies has been popular with Orthodox Jewish guests, AFP reported, as its apartment-style setup has been accommodating to their needs, including the use of a freezer to store particular kosher foods.

A Swiss hotel has caused outrage with a guest notice.

The Local was unable to contact Thomann on Tuesday, however she has responded to the articles in Israeli press, apologizing for her "wrong words".

Ruth Thomann, who operates the small hotel outside of Zurich, provided a freakish excuse for the seemingly anti-Semitic signage, saying she has "nothing against Jews", but that "the behavior of some of those guests is making other guests feel uncomfortable, and we received complaints so we need to be responsible for all our guests and find a balance".

The hotel owner said the pool note was addressed to Jews because "some of these guests went swimming with clothes on, with T-shirts, and didn't take a shower".

She told Swiss newspaper 20Minutes that her "choice of words" were "a mistake", according to a translation by the Guardian. He said they "feel well-treated".

Trump also said the United States was considering tighter sanctions against North Korea. The remarks were provided by the presidential Blue House.

"W$3 e must make sure that the punishment for incidents such as these will serve as deterrents for those who still harbor the germ of anti-Semitism", she said.

Jewish groups such as The Simon Wiesenthal Centre are now demanding Switzerland close "the hotel of hate and penalize its management", adding the reference to "showers" can be construed as a reference to the fake shower heads in the Nazi gas chambers. Other guests asked her to do something, Thomann said.

Thomann has denied accusations that she is anti-Semitic.

Meanwhile, an online petition has been launched against the hotel, gathering more than 500 signatures by the time this story was published.

This prompted staff to put up a sign reading: "To our Jewish Guests: Please take a shower before you go swimming and although after swimming".

The Haredi family from Israel that stayed at the hotel is not convinced.

As reported by International Business Times, one of the notes was positioned by the entrance to the hotel's pool area, while the other was placed on a refrigerator door. However, the hotel claims the message was simply a mistranslation.
