Trump touts his base as 'getting stronger,' though polls show a weakening

By one account Trump has spent almost 25 per cent of his time in office outside Washington, typically on one of his properties.

Trump posted some of his usual gripes, fake news (otherwise known as news that paints him in a bad light) chief among them. CNN's exits polls, for instance, found 66 percent of non-college-educated whites voted for Trump.

As evidence of his support among his base, Trump in his tweets cited recent campaign rallies he has held in Pennsylvania, Iowa, Ohio and West Virginia.

The poll also found support among white voters without a college degree-a key portion of Trump's base-have a dwindling view of the president's job performance.

"Hard to believe that with 24/7 [Fake] News on CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, NYTIMES & WAPO, the Trump base is getting stronger!"

"Going to NY next week for more meetings", Trump added. "And don't worry about all the distractions and diversions and discouragement that others, who are trying to throw logs in your path, are throwing your way".

Among the events which Kim attended in Tehran was a dedication ceremony for North Korea's new embassy in the Iranian capital. Over 100 world leaders and political officials attended the inauguration ceremony of Rouhani in Iran's parliament .

Trump also tweets that he is "working hard" from his private golf club in central New Jersey, while the White House heating and cooling system is repaired, and plans to head to NY next week for "more meetings". The president insists he is "working hard" and not at all on vacation.

But the president appeared to take issue with the poll, which was first reported on by Axios on Saturday, in a series of tweets Monday morning. Trump has begun returning to his base more vocally following the investigation into his aides' ties with Russian Federation taking on an ominous turn with the Special Counsel Robert Mueller impaneling a grand jury. Richard Blumenthal, D-Connecticut, who the president called "a phony Vietnam con artist".

The tweets ignore the fact that Trump is doing poorly among all Americans-56% disapprove of his performance, according to Gallup's three-day rolling average-in order to narrowly focus on his base of voters. He cried like a baby and begged for forgiveness like a child.

"On a few occasions, I have misspoken about my service, and I regret that", Blumenthal said at the time. "No one is above the law".
