Trump's vacation message to McConnell: 'Get back to work'

The feud between Trump and McConnell began when McConnell told constituents back in Kentucky on Monday that the President had "excessive expectations" about what it takes to get legislation passed in Congress.

"Mitch, get back to work and put Repeal & Replace, Tax Reform & Cuts and a great Infrastructure Bill on my desk for signing".

President Donald Trump on Thursday named a former aide to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell as interim leader of the commission that oversees the US power grid.

Those expectations, the Republican leader continued, made things more hard for enacting the GOP's legislative agenda, primarily repealing Obamacare. Cole said not repealing Obamacare was a congressional failure, not a presidential one.

The president and his allies have lit into McConnell since he made that statement on Tuesday.

"Part of the reason I think people feel we're underperforming is because of too many artificial deadlines unrelated to the complexity of legislating", McConnell said.

Lankans fold for 183, to follow-on v India
Brief Scores: India 442/5 (Cheteshwar Pujara 133, Ajinkya Rahane 132, Lokesh Rahul 57, Dimukh Karunaratne 1/31) vs Sri Lanka . This is India's eighth consecutive series win, and the first time they win by an innings in a Test on Sri Lankan soil! .

His message echoed the criticisms in recent days from many conservative news media figures and activists, who blame Mr. McConnell for failing to corral the necessary 51 votes to keep the repeal effort alive.

He also spoke to one of the senators, Republican Thom Tillis of North Carolina, who introduced a bill that could potentially protect special counsel Robert Mueller from being fired by the President, though it was not known whether the bill was addressed during the conversation.

McConnell says he is asked a lot about what being majority leader is like and he says the best thing he can come up with is that it's a lot like being "the groundskeeper at a cemetery".

Gingrich said a bigger loss is ahead for Republicans if they don't learn a lesson from failing on healthcare. He and his Senate Republicans have been utterly uninterested in examining Trump's conflicts of interest and potential violations of the emoluments clause.

Hardline Republican anger against McConnell spiked after Senate Republicans failed last month to pass the so-called "skinny repeal" of Obamacare, a watered-down version of a previous Senate bill whose vote was postponed in early July because it didn't have enough support. Always possible! But from where I sit, this was a needless fight to pick that could have decidedly negative consequences on the Trump's agenda in the future.
