Firefox Quantum Browser Looks To Leapfrog Google Chrome With Breakneck Speed

Mozilla is pitching its upcoming Firefox Quantum browser as its fastest yet, surpassing that of Chrome while using less computer resources. Although it can't declare victory over Chrome yet, it's undeniably faster than its old Firefox version. By all accounts, this could provide a big step forward in browser performance, a success Mozilla badly needs if it wishes to claw back some market share from Google Chrome.

Another project called Electrolysis redesigned the browser to run with multiple processes and optimized it for speed and memory usage.

We've shipped a lot already, but we've been planning for many more projects to come together in Firefox Quantum. Of course, the browser isn't yet available to consumers, so there's no third-party data to substantiate Mozilla's claims.

In addition, Mozilla engineers said they fixed 468 small bugs in the past year alone, bugs which engineers claim were insignificant but were hampering overall performance, akin to death by a thousand papercuts.

We're super excited to get Firefox Quantum to our beta users and hope you'll give it a try. The design (seen above) certainly looks and feels much more modern than Firefox's current look. Photon takes advantage of today's High DPI displays and other hardware across Windows 10, macOS High Sierra, Android Oreo, and iOS 11. If you're using Photon on a Windows PC with a touch display, the menus change size based on whether you click with a mouse or touch with a finger.

Megyn Kelly shouts out Syracuse on new 'Today' show, faces harsh criticisms
But in an interview with the cast and creators of NBC's own "Will & Grace", Kelly never established a relaxing rapport with them. Putting aside its poorly matched host, the nature of the show itself appears to me to be unsustainable.

The Library also includes materials saved using Pocket, the offline content tool Mozilla acquired previous year. When you open a new tab, you'll see now trending web pages recommended by Pocket users in addition to your top sites.

The browser's "autoscrolling" feature now uses asynchronous scrolling, similar to other input methods like mousewheel, providing a smoother scrolling experience. As part of its Project Photon initiative, Mozilla will rid of the ugly curved tab design now seen in Firefox and will able to take advantage of high-resolution screens.

As always, developers will want to take a close look at what's in the pipeline.

Firefox is also getting a visual makeover.

Firefox 57's settings will also become searchable, making it easier to configure the browser. The company has been working on modernising and rebuilding its Firefox browser for a while now and has finally released what it touts as "version 57" of the Firefox browser.
