White House Calls for Lowering Corporate Tax Rate to 20 Percent

Trump will utilize the period when Mike Pence, U.S. Vice President, governed IN and as an example of how this plan can create economic growth. House Republicans have said they want to lock in a 12 percent rate.

"I've asked lawmakers in both parties to discuss our framework for tax cuts and tax reform that will be released tomorrow", Trump said. "This is not just a big moment for Congress, it's a big moment for Americans". The plan is reported to cost an upwards of $5 trillion dollars and has been described by his officials as "completely designed with the middle class in mind".

Many Democrats, however, have said they will oppose changes that will increase debt or benefit the wealthiest citizens.

Altering individual tax brackets.

The framework also calls for slashing the corporate tax rate to 20%, though Trump has for months said he would like to see the 35% rate brought down to 15%.

While it would lower the top individual rate from to 35 percent from 39.6 percent, the Trump plan would roughly double the standard deduction, a set amount of income exempt from taxation, for all taxpayers.

This nation could use real tax reform that makes the complicated federal tax code fairer and simpler without raising the deficit. If Trump's plan became law, many of these taxpayers would probably start taking the larger standard deduction. Trump's plan would eliminate most itemized deductions, with the exception of deductions for mortgage interest and charitable donations.

The perk - first enacted with the income tax in 1913 - is most heavily used in coastal, bluer states that include New York, California, New Jersey and CT. The administration also intends to add a $500 tax credit for non-minor dependents, such as an older adult parents are caring for or an elderly grandparent who lives with the family.

Individual income tax brackets would be streamlined from seven to three, and a larger number of people would qualify for the Child Tax Credit, which is aimed at helping low-income working families. Currently, the credit begins phasing out for married couples starting at $110,000 in earnings.

One of those provisions is the elimination of the alternative minimum tax, or AMT.

Such economic assumptions have been questioned by Democrats, who say that the Trump tax plan will unfairly favor the wealthy and that providing them with tax cuts does not drive growth.

-U.S. -based global corporations.

There would be a top 25 percent rate for small businesses and firms organised as "pass-through entities" such as limited liability corporations.

Also, the drop in the top rate to 35% from 39.6% may not stick.

Income from those businesses is reported on owners' individual returns, not on business returns. At the same time, this could be achieved by the economic growth that will be realized from tax cuts.

Companies would be allowed to immediately write off investment expenses, though only for five years.

The National Low Income Housing Coalition-led United for Homes campaign calls on the president and Congress to embrace smart reforms to the MID. Legislative committees will have the final say.

Those results could spell good news for the GOP as they shift their focus from repealing and replacing Obamacare to reforming the tax system.
