Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN) Makes Prime Even More Affordable For Students

If the approval process gets tedious, parents can also set pre-approved spending limits.

The new service, available via amazon.com/forteens, is meant to give teenagers ages 13 through 17 a bit more autonomy, says Amazon. "Whether it's getting their favorite products with free shipping or streaming thousands of popular movies and shows, Prime student members can experience all the benefits of Prime".

The system works by giving teens their own login and password to use with Amazon. When a teen finds something they wish to order, they can place the order on the app and the parent will receive a text or email showing the item, cost, shipping address and payment information.

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) is now allowing teens to make their own accounts on its website. Parents can then allow or deny the attempt with a simple "Y" or "N" reply to the automated message.

He also explained the reason why the company has made a decision to abandon the platform which doesn't really surprise us. This sounds like it's coming from a broken record already , but Windows phones are dead .

"The teen can also include a personalized note like, 'This is the book I need for class, '" the company said. And the option to enroll in the program on a monthly basis eliminates the need for cash-strapped students to have to commit to the full-year Amazon Prime membership if they don't want to. Teens get greater freedom and parents still get itemized notifications of orders.

Amazon launched Households in 2015 in order to install more control over the ways people were sharing their Prime accounts with friends and family, and this is an evolution of that move.

Already, Households allows customers to add other adults to their group as well as children (12 and under) as a part of other services like the kid-friendly subscription Amazon FreeTime Unlimited, for instance.
