Bloodhound vehicle which will hit 1000mph to be tested today

The vehicle aims to break the world land speed record in 2019 on a specially-constructed track that has been prepared on a dried-out lakebed in Hakskeen Pan, Northern Cape, South Africa.

Many of those who set that record are back to break it, including Wing Commander Andy Green who drove Thrust SSC (Super Sonic Car) in the Nevada desert, making history as the first person to breach the sound barrier at 763.035 miles per hour.

In its first public test drive, the Bloodhound SSC completed two laps along the 2.7-km (9,000-ft) runway powered by a Rolls-Royce EJ200 jet engine, which is typically found in a Eurofighter Typhoon jet.

This public test will be the first of many such trial runs as the team put every single part of the auto through its paces ahead of the historic test run in South Africa in 2019.

Ewan McGregor and Wife Eve Mavrakis Split After 22 Years of Marriage
I think it was a very special acting experience. "It was great fun playing those scenes with her, and I loved it". A source from within the McGregor-Mavrakis family told People that the former couple has been broken up since May.

Bloodhound SSC is created to reach 1,000mph in a bid to set a record that can not be beaten by existing technology.

Labelled as "low speed tests", Green will drive the vehicle on the Newquay airport's runway to speeds of 200mph (about 322 km/h).

"I discovered during the initial dynamic tests that to get the auto to 200mph, I would have to take my foot off the throttle at 130mph as it then carries on accelerating for another 2 seconds".

The auto put in a series of "slow speed" runway tests Thursday which took the vehicle to a relatively sluggish 200 miles per hour. The Newquay test will see the Bloodhound run on conventional rubber wheels specially adapted from an Electric Lightning jet built in the 60s. "And then to slow down, I need to apply gentle pressure to the brakes for two seconds to "warm up" the carbon fibre disk brakes before applying full force on the brakes to stop the vehicle".
