Brother of Vegas gunman arrested for child porn

A laptop discovered in the hotel room of Las Vegas gunman Stephen Paddock was missing its hard drive, which may have contained critical evidence for the investigation into the October 1 deadly mass shooting, ABC News reported, citing unnamed sources. Aerial video showed investigators in a lot behind the building in the 5300 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard.

Authorities declined to say more about the situation, but a law enforcement source told the Associated Press that the child pornography investigation occurred prior to the shooting in Las Vegas.

The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office filed one count of possession of over 600 images of child pornography and 19 counts of sexual exploitation of a child, police said.

It remained unclear exactly what led up to his arrest.

Bruce Paddock did not speak to the media.

Bruce Paddock spoke with NBC News following the shooting, describing his own misdeeds as "minor". The official said the child porn case predates the shooting.

His older brother, Stephen Paddock, was behind the deadliest mass shooting in United States history when he began to fire on a concert crowd from the 32-floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas.

The brothers' father was also on the FBI's most wanted list in the late 1960s after escaping from prison where he was serving time for bank robbery.
