Pokemon GO Halloween Event 2017 Starts October 20

The Pokemon GO Halloween event 2017 is knocking at the door, and trainers that participate can look forward to some pretty exciting stuff.

It's not clear if these new Pokemon will stick around afterward; Niantic have confirmed that the rest of the Gen 3 pack won't arrive until December.

If creepy-looking Pokemon aren't your cup of tea, Pokemon GO's Halloween event still has something for you.

Pikachu himself will be dressed up in a special costume and if your avatar doesn't want to be left out, you can use Mimikyu's Disguise Hat to dress him or her up. There will also be other perks to playing during this time, such as double candy rewards when transferring, hatching, catching and walking with Pokemon. In addition to being the flawless Halloween costume for Pikachu, the witch's hat is supposed to be an allusion to Mimikyu, an off-kilter version of Pikachu introduced in Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon. Aside from the arrival of new ghost-type Pokemons such as Sableye, Banette and others, Ghastly, Cubone and Drowzzee are back as well.

Spectacular Orionid meteor shower could be visible from Longford tonight
It'll be an incredible sight, as the brightness of Orionid meteors is rarely rivaled , according to Business Insider. This meteor shower is famous because it derives from material trailing behind the best-known comet, Comet 1P/Halley.

Ghost-Type Pokemon will be more common during the festivities, and new Generation 3 Pokemon will begin to appear in the wild.

There's more than just new Pokemon to find. Trainers will also have the opportunity to stock up on special boxes from the in-game shop, featuring items such as Raid Passes and Super Incubators.

The third generation of Pokemon was introduced along with the Hoenn region in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, which originally came to Game Boy Advance in Japan in 2002 and the West in 2003.

Pokemon GO's Halloween event is slated to start Friday at 12 p.m. EST.
