'Stranger Things' star Charlie Heaton detained at airport for cocaine possession

Heaton stars on the breakout Netflix hit as Jonathan Byers, the older brother of Will Byers (Noah Schnapp), whose disappearance is at the center of the show's first season.

Stranger Things actor Charlie Heaton, was denied from entering the USA last week after trace amounts of cocaine were found in his luggage, the Associated Press has reported.

Law enforcement officials confirmed to THR that they found traces of cocaine on Heaton and that the actor admitted the consumption of drugs to them.

Here's something a little odd - Charlie Heaton got kicked out of the USA because he was allegedly caught with cocaine at the airport.

According to The Sun, the substance was detected by a sniffer dog at the airport. Heaton was detained but not arrested. It's unclear at this time how much cocaine Heaton allegedly had on his person and it's also unclear for how long Heaton will be unable to re-enter the country. Just Jared reported that he was then "allowed to withdraw his application to enter the USA and fly back to London" instead of surrendering to an arrest by the cops.

A representative for Heaton did not respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

A statement obtained by PEOPLE from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection says any "foreign national may be inadmissible due to the commission of a crime involving drug possession".
