Texans take knee to protest owner's controversial comment

Provoked by owner Bob McNair's comments at a meeting that "wecan't have inmates running the prison", the Texans staged their first protest over social injustice, and it was large.

Later on Sunday, a majority of Houston Texans players knelt and locked arms during the anthem.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported Sunday morning that the Seahawks were looking at trading Graham in a salary cap move and have been in talks about acquiring Houston Texans left tackle Duane Brown.

During those meetings Owner of the Texans, Bob McNair used the idiom "can't let the inmates run the prison" when talking about the players deciding how things are done.

McNair met with the players on Saturday, then released another statement in which he claimed the "inmates" comment was a reference to the league office, not the players. The New York Times said about 40 players in all refused to stand.

In an ESPN report on NFL meetings about national anthem protests, it was revealed that McNair, a donor to US President Donald Trump, argued that the league must stop the protests.

The players were widely reported to have been planning an en masse demonstration against McNair over his choice of words.

Seahawks CB Richard Sherman said Friday he was grateful McNair was outed by the story "when people like that show who they are", while praising Seahawks owner Paul Allen. "I was not referring to [Texans] players". I would never characterize our players or our league that way and I apologize to anyone who was offended by it.

He's also caught just 10 touchdown passes in 33 games with the Seahawks after catching 46 in 63 games with the Saints in the four seasons he spent as a starter prior to being traded.
