Winx wins 22nd straight race, taking the Cox Plate 2017

Champion mare Winx has entered the history books again after becoming only the second horse ever to win three consecutive Cox Plate titles.

Registering her third success in the weight-for-age championship of her home country, Winx made it Gr1 win number 15 and extended her unbeaten sequence to 22.

And she didn't disappoint, out-classing all opposition in the race.

Racing NSW and the Australian Turf Club have also pitched the idea of Winx racing in next year's The Everest - Waller holds a slot in the $10million race - as the pursuit to host global racing's most marketable asset heats up.

"I am lost for words". We are in the presence of greatness. "She will be recognized as one of the greatest horses to grace the Australian turf, and to be a part of her career I can't explain how much that means".

"It's very humbling, I'm very proud and I look forward to watching the replay".

"We are very aware of the following she has now and the interest in where she will be going", Waller said.

Trained by the late TJ Smith, Kingston Town was ridden by a different jockey for each of his three Cox Plate wins: Johnston (1980), Ron Quinton (1981) and Peter Cook (1982).

However, Johnson said that the travel advisory would remain in effect until the NAACP had seen that its concerns were addressed. After being told she was being kicked off the plane, Mallory called the pilot a racist in a profanity-laced exchange.

"Honestly what I've done with Winx has been common sense". She's now delivered me with my only other two.

Winx began to improve her position from the 900m and had the lead on the turn with Humidor the only horse giving chase.

Trainer Chris Waller is due to fly into Melbourne on Tuesday to make a decision on whether the three-time victor of Australasia's weight-for-age championship will have a spring carnival swansong in the Emirates Stakes at Flemington in a fortnight. "I've followed tradition and those great trainers and what they've done". To think that she's emulated the great, you know?

The Cox Plate was Winx's fifth start for the spring, her longest campaign since her three-year-old autumn preparation and Waller believed the mare was in need of the extra run prior to the Cox Plate this time around.

"Obviously she was in for a fight and it wasn't an easy victory".

"Humidor has run out of his skin, absolutely".

"Well done to connections of the second horse. Everyone dreams of a horse like this".
