Jaish Chief Masood Azhar's Nephew Among 3 Terrorists Killed In Kashmir

A gunfight erupted on Monday evening between security forces and militants in Jammu and Kashmir Pulwama district.

One of the three militants killed in the encounter was Talha Rasheed, nephew of JeM founder Masood Azhar. The other two militants have been identified as the divisional commander Muhammad Bhai and Waseem, a resident of Pulwama's Drubgam.

For the moment, one security officer Lance Naik Vrahma Pal Singh lost his life in yesterday's encounter. "It's also used by the Pakistan Army's special forces", said Raju.

The recoveries included one UBGL thrower, 19 shells of UBGL, three Chinese hand grenades, one wireless set, one 51 mm mortar shell and one magazine of AK 47 rifle, the official said. A joint column of army and police launched the operation.

Major General B.S. Raju, General Officer Commanding (GOC) the Army's "Victor Force" said at the press conference, "We've recovered M4 carbine, a United States made weapon used by North Atlantic Treaty Organisation forces".

For the first time in the almost 3-decade old militancy in the State, an American M4 carbine colt rifle was found on the slain militants.

"It grievously undermines an increasingly prominent Chinese narrative about the need to take a tougher line on terrorism broadly, and in Afghanistan specifically", Smith said.

Showkat Ahmad, a civilian, got injured when protesters clashed with the security forces to disrupt the operation.

"The US-made M4 carbine is used by a lot of armies part of North Atlantic Treaty Organisation".

A photo of a militant flaunting an M4 rifle had gone viral in Kashmiri social media circles last week.

Officials said that two out of the three militants were Pakistani nationals, including Raseed.

Paying tribute to slain youth in Agular Pulwama gunfight, Syed Ali Geelani blamed Indian authorities and said that their insensitivity and unconcern is the sole reason for this unabated bloodshed.

He said blankets and some eatables were also recovered from the hideouts, indicating that the militants were using these places.
