Redskins blow a 15-point lead over Saints in under 3 minutes

After being outplayed for nearly the entire game, the Saints staged a comeback for the ages with a 34-31 overtime victory over the Washington Redskins on Sunday at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

On offense, the Saints, coming off a 298-yard rushing game last week, was held to 160 rushing yards this time.

Former first-round draft pick Josh Doctson has had his ups and downs over the past year and a half, he now seems to be the developing into the player the Redskins envisioned. But Mark Ingram did a lot of damage in the final quarter and overtime, finishing with 134 and a touchdown on just 11 carries, including a 31-yard scamper to set up the game-winning 28 yard field goal by Wil Lutz. They turned what should have been a feel-good day, one where they could celebrate their quarterback's aggressiveness and their best win, into a loss that will haunt them for a long time.

New Orleans brought a seven-game winning streak into Sunday's game. Klein and safety Keny Vaccaro - and then lost top cornerback Marshon Lattimore after the opening drive to an ankle injury. Swearinger to end the first New Orleans possession of the game and Washington followed that with a field goal to take the lead.

The Redskins opened the second quarter with a long drive of their own, going 75 yards and capping the drive with a 1-yard TD run. The Redskins punted with an eight-point lead and held their collective breaths.

The Redskins pulled off a huge gamble in the third quarter and converted it into a touchdown for a 24-13 lead.

The Saints took over at their 18 and quickly moved into scoring position behind a 36-yard pass to tight end Coby Fleener. Perine scored his first National Football League touchdown earlier in the game.
