Former Oklahoma HS coach: Morris will win over Arkansas HS coaches

After weeks of searching, the University of Arkansas has hired its next head football coach. A deal could be worked out as soon as Wednesday.

Morris, 49, spent the past three seasons as the head coach at SMU in Dallas and gained notoriety for his Texas only recruiting philosophy. This season, Morris' third with the program, the Mustangs will play Louisiana Tech in the Frisco Bowl, the program's first bowl appearance since 2012.

Morris would become the 33rd head coach in Arkansas history. In his five seasons, Bielema had a 29-34 overall record and was just 11-29 in SEC play after finishing 4-8 (1-7 SEC) this year.

"Words With Friends" pals meet for the first time
And finally, last week, the unlikely duo got to meet in person in Florida after a pastor coordinated their meeting. A young man traveled over 1,000 miles to meet the elderly woman he became friends with through an online game.

Morris is considered one of the top offensive-minded coaches in college football. SMU ranks 13th nationally this season in total offense (493.8 yards per game) and eighth in scoring offense (40.2 points per game).

Morris is the man who coached former Texas QB Garrett Gilbert at Lake Travis outside of Austin, and prior to those years, he was at Stephenville, another Texas powerhouse, along with Bay City, Elysian Fields and Eustace.

"The future is tremendously bright at the University of Arkansas with the addition of Chad Morris", Yurachek said in a statement. Under Morris' fast-paced, no-huddle spread attack, Clemson shattered 127 offensive records (89 individual; 38 team) from 2010-14. Hunter Yurachek was hired from Houston on Monday. The Razorbacks promoted Hatfield's offensive coordinator, Jack Crowe, who had not been a head coach in more than a decade.
