Jon Gruden is the Raiders coach

Jon Gruden is the Raiders coach

The Raiders famously traded Gruden to Tampa Bay in 2002, where he proceeded to beat Oakland in the Super Bowl.

"Obviously, this is every emotional for me, " Gruden said during an introductory press conference that was attended by 50 former Raiders players.

The Raiders brought Gruden back with a 10-year deal approaching $100 million.

Jon Gruden is finally back in coaching and he'll be introduced as the Oakland Raiders' head coach at noon PST here at team headquarters.

Raiders owner Mark Davis said the hiring of Gruden culminated a six-year goal that started when his father, the late Al Davis, passed away in 2011.

Gruden formally himself announced that Greg Olson will serve as his offensive coordinator with Paul Guenther leading the defense and Rich Bisaccia becoming his special teams coordinator.

Gruden said he has already begun immersing himself in the job. But I still want to be very detailed in the way we play offense, I still want to be very involved in how we move the football.

Raiders make it official: Jon Gruden is their new coach
The Raiders fired Jack Del Rio following a 6-10 season as rumors team owner Mark Davis had targeted Gruden to replace Del Rio. The NFL club took to Twitter on Saturday afternoon to offer its former coach a 'welcome back'.

"I have a lot to prove", Gruden acquiesced. "Number one, I love football".

Gruden has been gathering a coaching staff in advance of Tuesday's expected announcement.

The Buccaneers ended the 2008 season with four losses in a row, and Gruden was sacked following the season.

I don't know whose idea it was to kick off a press conference with a hype video, but I can get behind that idea. "I haven't won a game since 2008, but I haven't lost one either".

The energetic coach will now be tasked with turning around a mercurial Raiders team, led by quarterback Derek Carr, that fell to a disappointing 6-10 in 2017 after a 12-4 playoff trip in 2016.

Gruden and general manager Reggie McKenzie should work well together.
