Steve Bannon expresses regret over comments in controversial book on Donald Trump

"Don't be condescending, Jake", Miller shot back, going on to talk about how unbelievable, in his opinion, Trump is as president.

Extracts from Fire and Fury have raised questions about Trump's mental health, which in turn led to the former reality TV star to tweet he was a "very stable genius". Tapper said that Miller was dodging his questions and performing for "an audience of one" - Trump.

On Fox News, White House aide Stephen Miller did not get good reviews for his manic performance with CNN's Jake Tapper on Sunday morning that forced the State of the Union host to shut down the interview and go to commercial.

Miller took jabs at CNN during the tense exchange, leading Tapper to abruptly cut off the interview.

Miller was referring to former White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon, who is quoted in Michael Wolff's "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House" as calling a meeting between Donald Trump Jr.

"His role has been greatly exaggerated whereas the President hasn't gotten the due for he deserves for the movement that he put together to tap in to the kinds of people whose life concerns don't get a lot of attention on CNN", said Miller.

'Jake Tapper of Fake News CNN just got destroyed in his interview with Stephen Miller of the Trump Administration, ' Trump wrote.

Before that, though, Miller vigorously defended Trump's political acumen and astute grasp of voter sentiment.

"No, the viewers are entitled to have three [minutes] of the truth", Mr. Miller said.

Fodder Scam verdict: JDU calls it a 'historic decision in Bihar politics'
Earlier, RJD leader Rabri Devi called an emergency meeting of the party before Lalu Prasad Yadav's sentencing in fodder scam case. The CBI special judge had on December 23 acquitted former Bihar chief minister Jagannath Mishra and five others in the case.

Steve Bannon, the former top aide with whom President Donald Trump cut ties last week, sought Sunday to explain and express "regret" for what he said were comments misconstrued in a new book as attacks on Trump's son.

Miller tried to counter Wolff's portrayal of what Trump is like to what the aide personally encountered when traveling with the candidate and now president. Miller was there to trash the book and its sources, namely Steve Bannon, ousted from the Trump Train and recently spurned by his original patrons, the billionaire Mercers.

Tapper grew exhausted of Miller repeating pro-Trump and anti-Bannon talking points and called the aide's constant interruptions "hysterical, ' as he cut the interview short by announcing, 'I think I've wasted enough of my viewers" time'.

Miller accused Tapper of being "condescending" and failing to ask questions about policy.

"And I'm sure he's watching and he's happy that you said that", Tapper replied. "I think I've wasted enough of my viewers' time".

Miller also argued that the president's Saturday tweets, in which he boasted about his "mental stability" and IQ, were helpful in arguing the point that he had the fortitude to do the job.

"I would have been delighted to have written a contrarian account here: Donald Trump, this unexpected President is actually going to succeed", Mr Wolff said.
