7th-grader shoots himself at OH school

A middle school student in OH is in the hospitals after he shot himself in his school's bathroom, officials say.

Police say that at this time, they do not believe other students were involved in the shooting but that authorities are still conducting an ongoing investigation. It's not clear yet whether the shooting was intentional.

Jackson Local Schools explained why they planned to reopen Wednesday: "Our goal is to maintain the normalcy of the school day".

Police did not provide any information on the student's condition.

Officials say if changes are not made, within the next ten years John Tyler would grow towards 3,000 students and Robert E. Lee would drop to around two thousand students.

JMMS Superintendent Chris DiLoreto said he notified all parents of the incident as soon as it happened via notifications.

Earlier this morning, an OH middle-school student shot himself causing schools in the Jackson Local School District to be on lockdown.

"We are partnering with the Jackson Township Police Department, and we will have additional law enforcement personnel present in all school buildings".

Parents rushed to the school, which has about 1,400 students, to get their children soon after administrators sent out a notice about the shooting.

Also, the district is taking into consideration students who want to remain at their current schools.
