Bill Haas released from hospital after fatal vehicle crash

US professional golfer Bill Haas escaped serious injury when he was involved in a fatal three-car collision on Tuesday in Los Angeles, but will drop out of a tournament as a result, his manager and local officials said on Wednesday.

Haas is "doing OK", Los Angeles Police Department Police Detective Jeff Fischer told KTLA.

Haas was set to play in the PGA Tour's Genesis Open, at the nearby Riviera Country Club, starting on Thursday.

A auto that the LAPD said belonged to Luke - who previously appeared in Legally Blonde alongside Reese Witherspoon - was hit by a Ferrari.

Early reports indicated that Haas and another passenger - a 50-year-old woman - were in a serious condition in hospital.

While fire department officials did not provide the victims' names, Fischer told the affiliate that Haas, 35, was one of two people injured.

Legally Blonde star Wilson was driving an SUV that was clipped by the Ferrari, and did not sustain any serious injuries.

Haas is the son of Belleville native Jay Haas.

Professional golfer Bill Haas was the passenger in a Ferrari that collided with a BMW.

Haas, though, has withdrawn from this week's tournament and will return home to Greenville, N.C., according to a statement by the PGA Tour and Haas' agent, Allen Hobbs of Players Group Management.

As for the driver, it was a 71-year-old friend of Haas' named Mark Gibello, according to Golf Channel.
