Police reportedly killed the shooter.

"The victims remain in the same condition, two women are seriously injured, and they are in intensive care", Kazanfar Kurbanov, the chief doctor at the Dagestani emergency medicine center, told TASS.

According to a local official the assailant was a local man in his early twenties, the Interfax news agency reported.

The death toll from the church shooting in Dagestan's Kizlyar has risen to five, a spokeswoman for the republican health ministry said.

ISIS later claimed responsibility for Sunday's shooting through the ISIS-affiliated Amaq media wing and in a statement that circulated on social media, but provided no evidence to support the claim.
