Air Canada says systems back online

After around three hours, Air Canada issued an apology and said that things were on the mend.

A nationwide network outage at Air Canada led to a flight cancellation and delays at Victoria's airport, officials say.

"Today's computer issues have had a wide impact on our customers and we apologize for any inconvenience. We appreciate our customers' patience and as part of our recovery preparations we are arranging additional staffing to get our customers on their way as soon as possible", said Benjamin Smith, President, Passenger Airlines at Air Canada.

The Canadian carrier advised in a tweet that airport systems, check-in and customer call centres were all back online.

Employees of Pearson International airport in Toronto also confirmed that a glitch in the system of Air Canada to affect the flight schedule.

Others were slightly delayed and the airport referred travellers needing immediate assistance to contact Air Canada at 1-905-671-7769 or through the Air Canada Jazz website, flyjazz.ca.

A third and-as of 5 p.m. Monday-final tweet on the issue sent at 2:38 p.m. reported that "operations were returning to normal".
