Android P will Include Bluetooth HID Device Profile Service to Smartphones

Samsung and Huawei already have optimized their flagship smartphones as "minicomputers", seeing as how they can be connected to the PC monitor effortlessly.

Requiring root to use this feature makes it hard for a vast majority of users.

Android P may bring official support for this and even add the option of using the phone as a keyboard. Leaks indicate that the smartphone will get doubled as a Bluetooth keyboard or a mouse. A patch for this was committed back in December 2016, but has been disabled. According to XDA-Developers, one of these will be the ability to turn your phone into a Bluetooth input device so it can be used as a wireless keyboard or mouse. However, the service has now been enabled (as per the new commits) and the APIs (Application Programming Interface) for developers have also been unhidden, meaning they can create apps that work on Bluetooth HID profile.

Nashville Mayor Megan Barry Resigns In Wake Of Extramarital Affair Revelation, Investigation
Barry admitted to the affair in an interview last month, saying she regretted it and asking for forgiveness from Nashville voters. The TBI confirmed it was investigating whether Barry or Forrest misappropriated public funds or engaged in official misconduct.

Google is expected to drop the Android P Developer Preview version for Pixel devices sometime in mid-March. Although, the Bluetooth HID profile concept has been around for a while, but Google never supported it until now. Instead, Google made a decision to surprise everyone with an unexpected Android P release on Wednesday, and Android fans spent the rest of the day checking out all of the new features baked into Google's newest OS. A device will need to be running the latest version of Android, obviously, but being able to emulate a trackpad can be really nifty for things like Razer's Project Linda.

Using a phone as a trackpad might be useful to control workplace presentations, or as a media remote whenever there is better solution.
