Audi teases E-Tron GT due next decade

Audi teases E-Tron GT due next decade

Audi's future is looking more and more electric, proven by the reveal of an e-tron prototype at the Geneva Motor Show, meaning its petrol-powered performance cars could be on their way out.

Audi will take the fight directly to Tesla this year when it introduces the E-Tron Gran Turismo. Moreover, the company will launch more new models than ever before and will enter the age of electric mobility this year. "Who is coming with out with electric cars in the SUV segment in 2020?"

Audi intends for the E-Tron GT to become a crown jewel in its Audi Sport brand, and since it will be sharing a platform with Porsche's Mission E, sport seems like it will be a priority.

Production plans for the vehicle were announced during the German automaker's 2018 annual news conference in Ingolstadt, Germany, where Stadler confirmed it as one of three all-electric models being developed and planned for launch by Audi by the start of the next decade.

Stadler says the new zero-emission Audi model will line-up alongside the e-tron quattro SUV unveiled in prototype form wearing light disguise at the recent Geneva motor show as well a production version of the e-tron Sportback (pictured below) first revealed in concept auto form at the 2017 Shanghai motor show.

"2018 is an exceptional year and requires a feat of strength from Audi", finance chief Alexander Seitz said at an earnings press conference.

Audi said the e-tron GT, which will be produced at the firm's Neckarsulm factory, will be "highly dynamic" and shows the direction of the company's performance division.

Porsche executives told Green Car Reports last week that PPE component set drew elements from both the MLB-Evo and P1 platforms, but also had several redesigned elements to reflect faster-than-expected improvements in battery capacity and other electric-drive components. Against this backdrop came the announcement that all core Audi models will soon be offered with "at least mild hybrid" engine options.

Packers to Release Jordy Nelson
The bidding for him could become too rich for the Packers' blood, leading perhaps to a less expensive cornerback signing. He has twice caught more than 1,000 receiving yards in a season, but not since 2013 - his final year with the Saints .
