Google Slapped With Another Lawsuit Alleging Discrimination Against White And Asian Men

Arne Wilberg, a white man who was a recruiter at YouTube for four years, claims that the company sets diversity quotas for hiring. In a statement, Google pushes back, saying that although "we unapologetically try to find a diverse pool of qualified candidates for open roles ... we have a clear policy to hire candidates based on their merit, not their identity". The former employee says he was sacked in late 2017, after complaining about its hiring policies.

To help prove his allegations, Wilberg included a screenshot of a Google tracking system - which was subsequently deleted - that kept track of candidates' gender and race, pointing out that the company had not reached their goals in respect to hiring female, black and Latinx candidates.

Wilberg filed with his lawsuit copies of two purported emails from a woman identified as the YouTube staffing team manager, in which she is alleged to have directed hiring team members to only consider and accept candidates from "under-represented groups". Many have adopted policies and programs created to encourage more balanced hiring, not only to right past discrimination but for their own economic advantage: According to management consultancy McKinsey, diverse companies deliver better financial results.

The controversy comes as Silicon Valley companies grapple with how to increase workforce diversity in an industry dominated by white men and permeated with corporate cultures that seem biased against women and female engineers. It's also alleged that management deleted emails and other digital records of diversity requirements previous year.

Fegan, 56, had represented players including Dwight Howard , John Wall , Demarcus Cousins , Nene and Ricky Rubio. A 29-year-old woman from California and Fegan's 5-year-old son were in the SUV at the time of the collision.

Wilberg claimed that he and other recruiters were uncomfortable with the hiring practice and even claimed that recruiters felt senior managers were talking about African-American employees like "we were talking about Black slaves as slave traders on a ship".

Wilberg also claims that Google "policy documents" directed the firm's YouTube recruiters to hire only "diverse" people for the third quarter of 2017. Each of these new employees allegedly must have been from an underrepresented group, and recruiters used what was known as a "diversity tracker" to keep a count of the number of minorities hired.

"However, numerous claims made in Wilberg's lawsuit seem to corroborate Breitbart News" previous reporting.
