The threats, with schools in London among targets, claimed to have sent in a student with a bomb timed to go off within three hours and demanded payments of 5,000 dollars to prevent it.

Over 24,000 bomb threats were sent to more than 400 primary schools, secondary schools, and colleges across the United Kingdom, resulting in numerous evacuations.

Lincolnshire Police said nine schools in their force area had been targeted by the threat.

Other UK police forces have also confirmed that they are aware of the emails, including the Northumbria force who say they appear to originate from the US.
