Weather week ahead: Rain gone until the end of the weekend

Most of the rain will arrive Monday and Tuesday next week. Much colder air settles in behind this for the remainder of next week.

A line of more organized storms will likely develop during the late morning and continue eastward during the afternoon. There will also be some lighter showers behind the cold front as temperatures drop to around 64 by 3 p.m. 54 to low to mid 60s across Southern Missouri into Northern Arkansas. I can't rule out a few showers after midnight Sunday night.

This line will approach the Montgomery area by early afternoon and could still feature a few storms capable of gusty winds. A cold front pushes through Tuesday, potentially dropping temperatures into the 30s Tuesday night.

As the area of high pressure that will keep us dry Tuesday begins to shift off the East Coast overnight, winds will return out of the south, moisture will increase, and clouds will move in by Wednesday morning. The temperatures will warm back up to the mid 70s this afternoon.

First Alert Forecast: Few showers Sunday, rain chance peaks Monday
The primary concern will be heavy rain and flooding, with an occasional strong wind gust or two with some of these storms. South Mississippi will see a break in the heavy rain most of Sunday afternoon as a cold front stalls over the coast.

Temperatures are starting the day mild and in the low 50s. Temperatures will still be above normal for this time of year. Sunday looks cloudier with a risk for showers later in the day. Other than a pop-up shower, the morning hours before sunrise will be dry.

Saturday looks like the pick day of the weekend with highs near 60° and sunny skies.

Today: After cloudy skies Wednesday, today - we're buckling up for handsome weather!
