Bon Jovi reunites for performance

Bon Jovi have reunited with guitarist Richie Sambora and bassist Alec John Such at the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame induction.

Bon Jovi, the Cars and four first-time nominees, including Nina Simone, will be inducted as the 2018 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame class. "To all of you who have been a part of this ride for the last 35 years, and all the fans, we share this honor with you - because this life is a gift", Bon Jovi said. "Some days I write the "Thank you" speech, sometimes I write the '(Expletive) you' speech", he said.

The Democratic governor hailed the band as "one of the most famous, enduring rock bands of all time".

"Our careers have paralleled in a lot of ways - whether it was the ups or the downs - we've come through everything together and we do this at this point because we love the people we work with", he said on Howard Stern's show earlier this year.

Sambora departed the band in 2013, but did play on all of the group's songs in tonight's set.

Dire Straits, The Moody Blues and Sister Rosetta Tharpe, who died in 1973, will earn the prestigious honour Saturday night at Public Auditorium in Cleveland, where the Rock Hall is based.

Martinez would have preferred Boston retaliate right there and not given Austin any thought that he was getting away scot-free. He has allowed two earned runs or fewer over six-plus innings pitched in each of his six career starts against NY at Fenway.

Soul singer Nina Simone, who raised awareness with a dazzling voice during the civil rights movement, is rock and roll royalty.

Killers frontman Brandon Flowers inducted the Cars, and surviving members Ric Ocasek, Elliot Easton, Greg Hawkes and David Robinson performed with Weezer's Scott Shriner filling in for late bass player Benjamin Orr.

The Moody Blues closed out the night. Her brother, Sam Waymon, accepted the induction on his sister's behalf. "I said "I'm doing great, this is awesome". There was no performance following the band members' speeches. Illsley inducted the band himself. According to Rolling Stone, the Cars played several Ben Orr-led classics for the Rock Hall crowd, including 1978's "Moving in Stereo" and "Just What I Needed" after opening with the 1984 Top 10 single "You Might Think".

Howard Stern did the honors for the band, with one of the night's more entertaining speeches.

A flawless Brittany Howard, of the critically acclaimed rock act Alabama Shakes, gave an extraordinary Tharpe impression onstage, winning over the audience with her rousing live performance in honor of the godmother of rock "n" roll.

The group then played "I'm Just a Singer in a Rock and Roll Band, ' 'Wildest Dreams, ' 'Nights in White Satin" and 'Ride My See Saw.' The ceremony will be aired in the United States by HBO on 5 May.
