Less than a year later, Katie Pladl's mother came across horrifying information in a journal belonging to one of her other daughters, CBS 17 reported, citing the warrants. "We are all heartbroken", Pladl's attorney told WNCN.

He said Katie Pladl had been living in NY with her adoptive parents. She was adopted by a family out of state and legally renamed Katie Rose Fusco.

Alyssa Pladl, Steven Pladl's ex-wife and Katie's biological mother, told the British tabloid The Daily Mail earlier this year that she wanted her former husband to spend time behind bars, but she wanted Katie to undergo therapy and rebuild her life.
