Missiles Strike Air Base in Syria

According to the Syrian media, the country's air defenses had come face to face with a missile attack during which almost 8 missiles were shot down.

"It is necessary to warn once again that military intervention under far-fetched and fabricated pretexts in Syria, where Russian servicemen are located at the request of the legitimate government, is absolutely unacceptable and can lead to the most serious consequences", the foreign ministry in Moscow said in a statement.

Worldwide condemnation grew over a suspected poison gas attack in a rebel-held town near Damascus said to have been carried out by the Syrian government, while Syria and its main ally, Russia, blamed Israel for airstrikes on a Syrian air base that reportedly killed 14 people, including four Iranians.

According to the reports, the chemical attack on Saturday killed at least 49 people and injured 500 others, Thomas Markram, the deputy to the UN High Representative for Disarmament Affairs, told the Council. In addition, the statement also said that the Department would be keeping a close eye on the situation and that they would offer all the support that was needed in order to detain those who were responsible for the air strike.

On Saturday night, activists and doctors in the town of Douma said that dozens of Syrians had been killed after a suspected gas attack near an opposition hospital.

France also issued a denial.Syria's state news agency Sana initially called the reported missile strike on the Tiyas airfield a "suspected U.S. attack", but later dropped the reference to the US.

Israel has previously hit Syrian targets.

Russian Federation is warning the USA against any "military intervention" in Syria over the government's alleged chemical attack against civilians this weekend, saying any such response would be "unacceptable" and lead to the "most serious consequences".

The airstrikes targeted Syrian air defenses and resulted in an Israeli jet being downed during the mission, after an Iranian drone was launched into Israeli territory, according to Israeli Air Force Brig.

Then, within days the USA military fired cruise missiles at a Syrian airfield where the sarin attack had been launched from.

The attack comes just days after a sarin nerve gas attack in the city of Douma, east of Damascus, that killed dozens of civilians.

Trump has not left out anyone in the blame game against the president of Syria.

On Sunday, President Trump expressed his disgust at the gas attack, tweeting, 'Many dead, including women and children, in mindless CHEMICAL attack in Syria.

"These attacks took place either with Russia's tacit or explicit agreement, or despite its military presence on the ground", said French Ambassador Francois Delattre.

The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons said it had opened an investigation to determine what exactly had happened in Douma.

Mr Trump and France's President Emmanuel Macron issued a joint statement on Sunday vowing to "co-ordinate a strong, joint response" to the alleged attack.
