Student claims 3 Michigan State basketball players raped her in 2015

SAP also failed to notify Plaintiff about the OIE or the alleged victim's Title IX rights, protections and accommodations, even though it's part of their protocol. She then accepted a ride to the party from two players - the party was at one of their off-campus apartments - and there was no party and her roommate was not there.

However, after the alleged victim disclosed the three alleged rapists were from the men's basketball team, the counselor announced she needed another person in the room.

Because this isn't the first time that MSU athletes (and staff) are accused of rape and sexual abuse, it's clear that the university is allowing the culture of harassment to thrive.

"Discouraging female students from reporting sexual assaults committed by student athletes plausibly creates an environment where football and basketball players can sexually assault females without repercussion."

Her attorney, Karen Truszkowski, told Outside the Lines that her client has not reported the incident to police, but, "I can not say that she's not ever going to report it". A spokesperson with that office did not immediately respond to a request for comment late Monday evening.

In addition, Larry Nassar, who worked as an osteopathic physician for USA Gymnastics and was a faculty member at Michigan State, was sentenced in January to 40 to 175 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of molestation.

The group "Reclaim MSU", an alliance of students and faculty calling for meaningful reform at the school, said the process remains "convoluted" for students who want to report instances of sexual assault and understand their rights. They had returned from playing in the NCAA tournament, according to the lawsuit, having lost to Duke University in the Final Four.

At Harper's, JD1 offered the alleged victim a drink, which she accepted, and then offered the alleged victim to meet the "other guys" on the team, which she also accepted.

He said the country should be focusing on security and economic cooperation "without further militarizing border communities". SC despatched troops to the border all through Operation Soar Start, the border deployment ordered by Bush in 2006.

According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff was left so "traumatized, depressed, and withdrawn" that she was admitted to Sparrow Hospital outpatient psychiatric day program for intensive psychiatric treatment. She was crying and could not speak and did not consent to the activity, according to the lawsuit.

The woman says that she felt "discombobulated" and could not control her hands as she tried to text on her phone, after one of the players, John Doe 2, invited her to his room under the pretext of showing her his basketball memorabilia.

One of the players then pulled her into a bedroom and told her "you are mine for the night". Then, three players took turns raping her, according to the complaint. The young woman blacked out and woke up on a couch in the apartment hours later. After seeking campus counseling she was dissuaded from reporting the incident or taking any action against the student-athletes.

"At the time, the plaintiff was a sports journalism major, so interacting with members of the basketball team was of interest to her", the federal court filing says. "The counselor's demeanor completely changed", the lawsuit states.

The woman told "Outside the Lines" she was scared to report the incident to police at the time for fear of getting in trouble for underage drinking.

"We have personal records yes, we have records that are in possession of the university, yes", her attorney said.

Jane Doe's attorney, Karen Truszkowski, said her client never reported the assault to police but she did report it to a counselor on April 20, 2015 at the Michigan State University Counseling Center.
