Israeli missiles shot down in Syria

Israeli military spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Conricus said Thursday that Iran had been trying to orchestrate an attack for a month, but Israel thwarted its attempts.

"I presented Israel's obligation and right to defend itself against Iranian aggression from Syrian territory", Netanyahu told Putin as the two leaders met to discuss strategy.

Jerusalem has repeatedly warned that any Iranian strike on Israel from territory in Syria would lead to a 'major response.' The Israeli Defence Minister Avigdor Lieberman said President Assad should 'throw the Iranians out'.

In response to the raids, Moscow, which also supports Assad, called on both Israel and Iran to show restraint.

In Iran, the news of the fighting was reported as a conflict between Syria and Israel.

"The Iranian regime's deployment into Syria of offensive rocket and missile systems aimed at Israel is an unacceptable and highly risky development for the entire Middle East".

"We hit ... nearly all of the Iranian infrastructure in Syria", Lieberman said, in a question and answer session at the annual Herzliya security conference in Tel Aviv. The Golan was seized by Israel from Syria in the 1967 Six-Day War and has been occupied by Israel ever since. The rocket barrage was sacked from Syria at Israel at around midnight. Israel accuses Tehran of seeking to establish a foothold on its doorstep, something it has vowed never to allow.

Trump Says Drug Ads Should Reveal Costs
Health Secretary Alex Azar said the Food and Drug Administration would immediately examine requiring that information in TV ads. Drug companies spent $229 million on lobbying since the beginning of 2017, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based monitoring group, said Israel's strikes killed at least 23 people, including five Syrian soldiers. Iran appeared determined not to be drawn into a wider regional conflict with Israel during the sensitive negotiations.

The Syrian capital of Damascus shook with sounds of explosions just before dawn, and firing by Syrian air defenses over the city was heard throughout the night. In retaliation, Israel launched a wide-ranging military strike on Iranian assets in Syria.

The United Nations, Western nations and Saudi Arabia say Iran supplies the Houthis with long-range missiles capable of reaching Riyadh. Advisers from Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards, as well as trainers, commanders and experts, are stationed in military bases across the country.

But Israel may be ready for that as well, as Israeli reporter Barak Ravid quoted Israel's defense minister as saying, "If it rains in Israel, it will pour in Iran". For years, Iranian proxies have attacked Israel, but this time, Israel is directly blaming Iran for the attack.

At the same time, since entering the Syrian civil war in 2015, Russian Federation has generally turned a blind eye to Israel's airstrikes against Iran and its Lebanese terror proxy, Hezbollah.

The decision for the United States to pull out of the deal, promoted by Israel, sparked uproar in the Middle East, as Iranian President Hassan Rouhani ordered the country to prepare to boost uranium at "industrial levels".

With the latest escalation, Russian Federation is seen by many observers as the key to possibly defusing the situation between Israel and Iran, as it enjoys warm relations with both countries and is the major military power on the ground in Syria.
