'It was really hard after Mo's injury'

'It was really hard after Mo's injury'

The Egyptian Football Association is "optimistic" Mohamed Salah will be able to play in the World Cup, after he suffered what Liverpool manager called a "really serious injury" in Saturday's Champions League final defeat.

Salah was hurt when he tangled with Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos and was treated, but he collapsed to the ground again four minutes later and left the game after 30 minutes.

At one cafe in Cairo, numerous 500 people who gathered to watch the game on a giant screen left when Salah exited the match.

However, it has turned out to be a night of dismay for the player, as a strong clash with Sergio Ramos in the middle of the first-half ensured that Salah had to walk away from the pitch well before any impact could be made.

For many Muslims around the world, this year's Champions League final was going to be a bit extra special courtesy Mo Salah.

However, addressing the issue for the first time since being withdrawn by Jurgen Klopp, the potent attacker insisted, via his official Twitter page, that he is "confident" he will recover in time for the World Cup. He is in hospital for an X-ray.

Egyptians took to social media to vent their frustration over Salah's injury and blame Ramos for causing it, using Arabic's rich and colorful range of expletives.

"We lost a very important player, like probably Egypt lost for the World Cup a very important player".

The initial assessment of the injury was bad, with most assuming he would miss out on the World Cup entirely. "Your love and support will give me the strength I need", Salah says.

Egypt Independent reported that Sawiris expressed disagreement with calls for Salah to break his fast on the Liverpool-Real Madrid match day.

He is to leave Real Madrid this summer.

According to the NHS website, a dislocated shoulder should take anything from "between 12 and 16 weeks to heal after the shoulder has been put back into place". "It doesn't look good, that's it", he said. "I recently read him saying that I had been his inspiration and I was excited", he added.

Egypt is scheduled to play Uruguay in their opening Group A game on 15 June, before facing host nation Russian Federation and Saudi Arabia.
