The House That Jack Built

The House That Jack Built

The House That Jack Built premiered at Cannes Film Festival last night where there were over 100 walkouts. "Oops. That was maybe a mistake, me getting in this vehicle with you", she says in the trailer, which is soundtracked by David Bowie's iconic "Fame". Even with tickets including a "scènes violentes" ("explicit violence") warning, "hundreds" allegedly walked out of the theater. According to a report,"It's disgusting", said one woman as she left the screening. Nevertheless, the movie still received a prolonged standing ovation for von Trier, who is a regarded as a cinematic visionary in France.

The House That Jack Built, which supposedly sees Dillon mutilate actress Riley Keough and even a few children, screened out of competition - though it's believed to have been the "day's major festival draw".

Variety's Ramin Setoodeh said that he'd never seen anything like this at a film festival.

★★★★☆ In 2011 Lars von Trier was declared persona non grata at Cannes after saying that he "sympathised" with Hitler. More than 100 people have walked out of Lars von Trier's 'The House That Jack Built, ' which depicts the mutilation of women and children. Gross. Pretentious. Vomitive. Torturous. Vile movie. Should not have been made.

One thing's for sure, Dillon is magnificent in a very courageous role to take on - he may even be at a career best as Jack, but a stand-out performance is such a film that will be so lambasted over the coming moths leading to release, it'll be interesting if any recognition comes its way.

Sanders: Aide's McCain comment shouldn't have been leaked
The White House later commended McCain's service to his country, but refused to address the aide's comment when pressed Friday. McCain, a Navy pilot who was beaten in captivity during the Vietnam War , has urged his fellow senators to reject Haspel.

Lars describes his controversial creation as celebrating "the idea that life is evil and soulless". Von Trier's script follows Jack's development as a murderer, following him through five important killings and providing glimpses into his troubling coming-of-age experience.

We experience the story from Jack's point of view, while he postulates each murder is an artwork in itself.

The House That Jack Built does not yet have a United Kingdom release date. As the inevitable police intervention is drawing nearer, he is taking greater and greater risks in his attempt to create the ultimate artwork.
