Iran plans to boost uranium enrichment capacity

Chancellor Angela Merkel reaffirmed Monday Germany's commitment to the nuclear deal with Iran, despite Israeli claims that Tehran was cheating on the agreement.

On Monday, Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned the Europeans that "Iran will never tolerate both suffering from sanctions and nuclear restrictions" and called for preparations to speed up uranium enrichment.

European leaders have moved to salvage the deal after US President Donald Trump's announcement of Washington's exit on May 8.

He said: "Some Europeans are talking about limiting our defensive missile programme".

Under the agreement with the United States, France, Germany, Britain, Russia and China, Iran strictly limited uranium enrichment capacity to satisfy the powers that it could not be used to develop atomic bombs.

According to Reuters, asking the EIB to invest in Iran had "symbolic value as European Union officials see it as one of the easiest to deliver on in response to Iran's demands that it show proof of its commitment to the nuclear deal".

"Our enemies have staged economic and psychological. warfare against us, and new American sanctions [reinstated after Trumps' withdrawal from JCPOA] are part of it", Khamenei said.

It's hard to find a United States lawmaker more loyal to AT&T and Comcast than Tennessee Representative Marsha Blackburn. Bredesen was governor of Tennessee from 2003 to 2011 and was previously the mayor of Nashville .

Supporters also fear the reimposition of USA sanctions could hit European firms that have done business with Iran since the accord was signed.

Israel is considered the leading military power in the Middle East and believed to be the only country in the region to possess nuclear weapons.

Iran wants to "basically conduct a religious campaign in largely Sunni Syria but try to convert Sunnis", he said at a joint press conference with Merkel.

Meanwhile, Iran is vowing to increase their uranium production if European countries also pull out of the nuclear agreement.

Options being considered by the EU to keep Tehran in the nuclear deal include new credit lines for Tehran, increased energy cooperation and implementing EU laws to block European companies from caving in to USA sanctions.

Earlier this week, Iranian Ayatollah Khamenei again issued the regime's long held threat to annihilate Israel from the map.

Western powers view Iran's involvement in its neighbours' affairs as destabilising for the region while Israel sees it as a direct threat to its existence. "We will continue our support for oppressed nations", Khamenei said. The West also blames the country for supporting Palestinian armed group Hamas, Lebanese Hezbollah and the Houthi rebels in Yemen. "And you know where exactly they will come", he said.
