Jared Leto to star in and produce his own Joker movie

As for the movie starring Leto's Joker, it's not yet known when that will go into production. They also announced plans for a Birds of Prey movie with Harley Quinn actor Margot Robbie, to be directed by Cathy Yan.

Things are about to get even more confusing with your favorite DC characters as Variety reports that Jared Leto's Joker will be getting his own solo movie set in the DCEU.

For months, reports have been circulating that WB and DC were quietly in the process of splitting their superhero movie releases between a shared universe and a separate, now unnamed brand of standalone movies, allowing for different filmmakers to take alternate approaches to characters that already exist within the shared universe.

The actor is set to star in the Warner Bros. Last year, the studio announced that Todd Philips (The Hangover, War Dogs) will be co-writing and directing an origins tale for Joker.

No, wait, she said! Williams then charged on to win the set and match 6-4, seemingly getting better with each match she plays. Sharapova hasn't defeated Williams in 14 years and is frank when it comes to discussing the reasons behind that drought.

Leto first appeared as the Joker to mixed reactions in David Ayer's Suicide Squad, with fans pointing out his role was little more than a glorified cameo given lack of screen time, and naysayers saying both the film and Joker sucked.

Leto would also executive produce the tentpole, which does not yet have a writer or director attached. Although he's been coy on the matter, Joaquin Phoenix has reportedly been in talks to star. Other films on DC's upcoming slate include a Harley Quinn spinoff, Suicide Squad 2, Shazam!, Wonder Woman 2 and Aquaman, which is scheduled for release in November.

Are you excited to see more of Jared Leto's Joker in his own movie? We already know, for example, that Leto is set to reprise his role in the sequel to Suicide Squad, set to begin filming in 2019.
