Ronaldo scores hat trick, Portugal draws 3-3 with Spain

Cristiano Ronaldo used the World Cup to show everyone he's the GOAT.

The second half began with a similar pattern to the first with Spain dominating possession and they were level 10 minutes after the break after Sergio Busquets nodded a Silva free kick across goal for Costa to score his second of the night from close range.

Ronaldo had given Portugal a dream start winning and scoring a fourth minute penalty.

"It is Spain and Portugal", he said.

Heading in to the 2018 World Cup, the most anticipated matchup was the Group B showdown between powerhouses Spain and Portugal.

"He knew. He knew and that's what I really admire in some players and he is a great example", said Mourinho in his role as a pundit for Russia Today.

There was little he could do about Ronaldo's stunning third - the defining moment of the game - but the lasting emotions from Spanish supporters in the aftermath was one of fury towards their keeper.

‘Teen Mom’ star Farrah Abraham arrested at Beverly Hills hotel
Farrah is a powerhouse and was having a business meeting in the hotel where the alleged incident happened. Abraham later took to Instagram to thank her fans for their well wishes and concerns after the arrest .

The Real Madrid star scored via a penalty, left-footed drive and exquisite free kick to earn his side a credible draw in against a star-studded Spanish team.

The World Cup is still in its relative infancy, but it will take some doing between now and the final match to eclipse the performance Cristiano Ronaldo delivered against Spain in the opening match of the tournament which will most likely be his final appearance at football's top table. "When you have this staff and these young players, they make it much easier", Hierro said.

De Gea's mistake would prove costly as Spain and Portugal ended up sharing the spoils in a 3-3 draw, and while the 27-year-old was happy with the support within the Roja camp, he was critical of the situation outside it.

Added Hierro:"We've all had to adapt very quickly to the new circumstances". The ball struck the post before going into the goal.

With Iran, who beat Morocco 1-0 with a late goal earlier on Friday, up next, Hierro said his team would be focusing on staying in Russian Federation as long as possible.

The reigning European Champions, Portugal, is scheduled to face Morocco on June 20 in Moscow, while Spain will play against Iran on the same day in Kazan. Ramos leads Spain while his club teammate Ronaldo leads Portugal.

Portugal: The team has been able to succeed recently because of its steady defense, but this time it was not able to hold on to its early leads despite twice getting ahead with goals by Ronaldo.
