White House aide who joked about John McCain's ill health is out

White House aide who joked about John McCain's ill health is out

"It doesn't matter, he's dying anyway", she said during a well-attended White House communications meeting on May 10, drawing shock from some staffers, according to a White House official with knowledge of the comment.

"Kelly Sadler is no longer employed within the Executive Office of the President", Raj Shah, White House principal deputy press secretary, said in a statement.

Sadler told colleagues at a private meeting last month that they should ignore McCain's opinion about Trump's Central Intelligence Agency nominee because "he's dying anyway".

Her father is "all about character and bipartisanship and something greater than yourself", Meghan McCain said, before adding a stinging message to the critics: "Nobody's going to remember you".

It is unclear if Sadler's exit was a result of her comments about the Arizona senator, which were made during a White House internal staff meeting and subsequently leaked almost a month ago. On Tuesday, the White House announced that she was let go.

McCain, 81, was the 2008 GOP nominee for president and is now being treated for a form of brain cancer that is frequently deadly.

Two people familiar with the matter told The New York Times that Sadler may have been forced out for allegedly telling Trump that White House strategic communications director

"I don't think we should continue to validate the leaks that come out by making that the focus of what we're doing", Sanders said, focusing on the issue of leaking rather than Sadler's comment itself.

Sadler apologised to the McCain family privately, but McCain's daughter asked for a public apology.

The White House released a statement about Sadler.

"She is no longer working at the White House", he said.
