At least 10, including a child, shot in Toronto: Canadian media

Emergency crews were called to the scene in Toronto's Riverdale neighbourhood on Sunday night local time (Monday afternoon NZT) near Danforth and Pape Avenues.

Paramedics tell CityNews the scene encompasses several blocks and a number of victims have sustained significant injuries.

Unconfirmed reports say the shooter is no longer active.

Toronto Star, quoting eyewitnesses, described a man dressed in black firing between 15 and 20 shots.

Toronto police tweeted saying he shooter has been killed.

No further details have yet been provided. One child was taken to a pediatric trauma center, and two others were taken to hospital.

A child is also thought to be among the victims.

Witnesses tell CityNews that they heard up to 25 gunshots.

Police are warning people to stay away from the area.

Alek Minassian of Ontario has been charged with 10 counts of first-degree murder, although authorities are not treating the incident as a terror attack.
