Former MSNBC Host Ed Schultz Dies at 64

"Nobody is going to tell Ed Schultz what to say", he said in a 2016 interview.

Schultz was an outspoken critic of Vladimir Putin during his time on MSNBC, but once he joined RT America in January 2016, he repeatedly dismissed intelligence assessments that Russian Federation interfered in the 2016 election through social media posts and the hacking of DNC emails.

Schultz died Thursday at his home in Washington D.C., RT America reported with MSNBC noting on air that he died of natural causes.

Schultz gained prominence as a radio and TV personality in Fargo, North Dakota in the 1980s.

Schultz hosted "The Ed Show" on MSNBC from 2009 to 2015. He transitioned into political commentary in the '90s with a number of regional radio broadcasts in the Midwest. Schultz reportedly said at the time, "Let them call me what they want, I am going to speak the truth no matter what". He began talking about politics in 1992 on WDAY-A, then moved to KFGO-A in 1996 with "NEWS AND VIEWS", which became regionally syndicated.
