Trump 'Very Happy' with North Korea Nuclear Weapons Talks

North Korea strongly denied the charges that made the USA blacklist the North as a terror-sponsoring state in 1988.

"Leaving another USA official standing at the altar, waiting forlornly for the North Korean representative to show up adds insult to injury", said Bruce Klingner, a North Korea scholar at the conservative Heritage Foundation. While failing to maintain basic communication with United States diplomats, WaPo reports that the North Korea regime is keeping regular communication with China and South Korea.

North Korea's level of provocation toward the U.S. changed months before President Donald Trump's summit with Kim Jong Un, said the commander of USA forces in Korea.

Trump's interest in the issue has put a particularly bright spotlight on Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who has tried to wring concessions from his counterpart, Kim Yong Chol, a former spy chief viewed by the Trump administration as uncompromising and unable to negotiate outside the most explicit directives from Kim Jong Un.

Observers say the North apparently wants to gain the South's support in the negotiations with the United States, as the 65th anniversary of the armistice agreement on Friday approaches.

Both Pompeo and Trump have argued there is no daylight between the two governments' positions on Pyongyang's nukes.

Trump has expressed his outrage at the media coverage of the Singapore summit on Twitter claiming that the media is not giving him enough credit for his success.

Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-hwa requested "exemption to sanctions on North Korea" to member countries of the U.N. Security Council in an undisclosed briefing on Friday in New York, Chosun Ilbo reported. Kim unilaterally announced a moratorium on long-range missile launches, pleasing Trump, but has pointedly said nothing about the mid-range missiles that concern Japan the most. Likewise, no Nuclear Tests. Only the Opposition Party, which includes the Fake News, is complaining.

The U.N. Security Council prohibits trades of North Korean commodities in its Resolution 2371 adopted a year ago. The U.S. State Department warned that South Korea was potentially violating worldwide regulations. The East Asian nation said its motives were based on "peace-loving intentions". The Japanese leader could meet Kim at an eastern Russian Federation development forum in Vladivostok in September, where Kim and Putin may hold their summit.

Calling the talks "very productive", Pompeo told media that he "spent a good time" talking about denuclearisation. However, the lack of visible progress towards that pledge was one factor that soon served to undermine the agreements reached between Kim and Trump.

The United States Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, seemingly contradicted Trump's claim on Twitter when she accused Russian Federation of blocking efforts to punish North Korea's illegal smuggling of petroleum products.
