Battlefield V will have NVIDIA's next-gen RTX technology

HP has unveiled its new Omen Obelisk gaming desktop, a model with the new NVIDIA GeForce RTX 20 Series GPUs.

The ROG Strix GeForce RTX 2080 Ti and 2080 keep Turing cool with Axial-tech fans that feature ROG innovations, including a reduced-size fan hub to allow for longer blades and a barrier ring that increases structural integrity and downward air pressure through the ROG Strix GeForce RTX 2080 Ti and 2080's heatsink array. It also gives them more time to prepare supply, since you can be sure there will be a much higher demand for these cards than the RTX 2080 Ti and RTX 2080.

This story is still developing, and specs on these graphics cards were not available at the time of writing.

As it turns out, for the RTX 2080-series cards, MSI is using a new Gaming X Trio nomenclature. A standard RTX 2070 will set you back $US499; an RTX 2080, $US699 and an RTX 2080 Ti $US999.

That led us to speculate how well the next-gen GeForce cards will be able to render ray-tracing.

Kelly Stafford is not one to let potshots from afar at her husband, Lions quarterback Matthew, go unnoticed. For example, Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady do not, in fact, suck, according to Ramsey.

The next in line is the GTX 2080, a cut-down version with 2944 CUDA cores, and 8GB of 14Gbps clocked GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit memory interface, giving it a memory bandwidth of 448GB/s.

But, more impressively, it also features ray tracing and AI-driven Tensor cores to push a new revolution in computer graphics.

To deliver record-breaking performance, the factory-overclocked GeForce RTX 2080 uses 225 Watts of power out of the box and tops out around 280 Watts for enthusiasts chasing ultimate overclocking performance. Note that the RTX 2070 only requires a single 8-pin connector, and has a noticeably lower TDP than the other two cards.

Nvidia has just taken the wraps off new graphics chips that offer a significant improvement in "ray tracing", or the process of representing light as pixels and accurately rendering what happens when it encounters virtual objects.

Still, ray tracing has always been something of a holy grail for games graphics - it was previously confined to high-end CGI setups. The RTX 2080 Ti would ship with 11GB of memory, and have 78 trillion RTX-OPS and 10 Giga Rays/s of performance. Nvidia showed how this might look in the upcoming shooter Battlefield V. During a battle, explosions and the ensuing fire can be reflected across the entire environment, including the puddles on the ground, nearby store windows, parked cars, and over irises of the human soldiers. Going forward, Nvidia says that more games will get ray tracing support, teasing support in at least 21 games including Hitman season 2, We Happy Few, PUBG and Final Fantasy XV. Explosions are no more damaging, but they seem to swallow all available light, looking for more menacing as raging orange colour reflects all the way from the light source down a battle-damaged street.
