In Mexico called the cause of the crash

"The control tower noticed strong wind currents and this could have caused the accident", Durango Gov. José R. Aispuro said in a news conference Tuesday night.

Earlier, Durango Governor Jose Rosas Aispuro wrote in his Twitter account that "it is confirmed there were no fatalities in the accident".

The airport has been closed while officials attend to the wreckage.

The Aeromexico flight AM2431 had been flying from Guadalupe Victoria global airport to Mexico City when it crashed at about 4pm.

The plane's operator, Grupo Aeroportuario Centro Norte, said initial indications are that the weather was the cause of the crash, according to the BBC.

He said the pilot and one other person were in serious but stable condition.

Following the Aeromexico Flight 2431 crash on Tuesday, one of the passengers said the harrowing flight prompted him to seek out some liquid courage. After the plane crashed into a field in a horizontal position, it is possible to activate an inflatable ladders, by which passengers and crew members left the ship, before it caught fire.

Judge blocks publication of plans for 3D printed plastic guns

"I think we fell back on the runway because it was a hard surface, then we skidded on the ground until it stopped", added the Durango native, a housewife who was on a journey back to Colombia where she lives.

A jetliner crashed in bad weather shortly after takeoff from the western Mexican city of Durango, skidding to a halt in a nearby field.

"The higher up we went into the storm the heavier the hail got and more wind got to us", he recounted from his hotel room.

Cardoza said in an interview that around 85 people had been injured in the crash, some seriously, adding that a fire resulting from the accident had been put out and there were no reports of burn victims. Aeromexico says it involved an Embraer 190 plane with capacity of 100 passengers.

A State Department official said Wednesday that 65 US citizens were aboard the plane.

A plane headed for Mexico City crashed in a field near an airport in the Mexican state of Durango leaving multiple people injured but miraculously all those on board survived the impact.

A Spokesman for Durango's civil protection agency, Alejandro Cardoza said that quite a few passengers actually managed to move away from the crash site on foot, HT reported.
