Melania Trump backs National Basketball Association star LeBron James after Trump insults

Michael Jordan is speaking out in support of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James after President Donald Trump insulted his intelligence.

"He (Mr Trump) is dividing us and what I noticed over the last few months that he's kinda used sport to divide us and that's something I can't relate to, because I know sport was the first time I was ever around someone white". "He's doing an incredible job for his community", Jordan said through a spokeswoman.

The statement's tone was in stark contrast to President Donald Trump's tweet Friday night following James' appearance on CNN in which he told journalist Don Lemon that he "would never sit across" from Trump, whom James has criticized in the past.

Lemon's interview with James was broadcast earlier in the week and rerun on Friday when Trump, who's on vacation at his golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey, caught up with it.

Trump's thinly veiled tweet led to a sharp response from Lemon.

Kiffin retweeted a story from Sporting News about Melania Trump praising LeBron James for opening his I Promise school.

Evidence mounts of Houthi hand in deadly Hodeidah attack
Later on Thursday, Griffiths announced plans to invite Yemen's warring parties to Geneva on September 6 to hold the first round of consultations.

Because Donald Trump mentioned the National Basketball Association legend and Charlotte Hornets coach Michael Jordan in the tweet - ending with "I like Mike!"

James, meanwhile, did not weigh in on the debate and instead on Saturday morning shared photos from the school he just opened. As that Ian bloke said, it's good to see that the cruel comments have backfired and actually raised the profile of James' good work. He made Lebron look smart, which isn't easy to do. Trump's former rival Hillary Clinton backed James as a "great family man" and "incredible ballplayer" who "gives back to his community, and isn't afraid to speak his mind". The basketball star recently opened an I Promise School for low income and at-risk kids in OH, inspired by his own upbringing.

Mr Trump is traveling to OH on Saturday (local time) for a campaign rally.

A number of athletes jumped in to defend James. One person who was apparently up late watching it: President Trump. First Lady Melania Trump also issued a statement supporting James.

"Going to the White House was a great honour until you showed up!"
