Mobile says hackers made off with 2 million users personal data

The company said that no financial information, social security numbers or passwords were compromised, but other personal information may have been exposed. If you are one of the affected customers then just keep an eye out for any unusual activity related to your different accounts or home address.

T-Mobile reiterated it has safeguards in place to prevent unauthorised access but did not say if it would be making any major changes to its systems.

There is not much information being published by the telecommunications firm yet, as the breach investigation is still on-going.

The breach happened on August 20, and the company claims to have quickly discovered and shut down the unauthorized access to customer information.

The UnCarrier has also told Motherboard that the hackers were part of an "international group", but are not sure if said hackers were either criminals or part of some government.

The breach at T-Mobile comes a few months after a security researcher discovered a vulnerability in the carrier's website that enabled anyone with valid phone numbers to retrieve associated customer details.
