President Trump re-lowers White House flag for McCain under pressure

The White House, according to a Washington Post report Monday, prepared a statement extolling McCain's life and calling him a hero, but Trump rejected issuing it.

John McCain, a movement that appears to be gaining momentum since the chamber's top Democrat called for the name change in the wake of the Arizona Republican's death Saturday.

Graham was asked about President Donald Trump's reluctance to recognize McCain's passing, after the White House quickly returned its flag to full staff on Monday.

Trump and McCain had come to political blows many times and Trump notably commented during the 2016 presidential campaign: "He's a war hero because he was captured".
