Accused CBS producer is a no-show at work following Moonves resignation

Leslie Moonves, one of the most powerful figures in the entertainment industry, has officially resigned from his position as the chairman and CEO of CBS on Sunday evening, September 9, 2018, CNN reports. The executive was due as much as $180 million, but the payout is now dependent on the outcome of an ongoing investigation into Moonves's alleged behavior, people familiar with the matter have said.

Speaking to reporter Ronan Farrow at the New Yorker, at least 12 women have now alleged in two articles that Moonves forcibly kissed or touched them, coerced them into performing sexual acts, or threatened their careers over the 24 years he led the company-as well as oversaw a culture of insidious sexual discrimination.

Six more women have stepped forward to accuse influential CBS chairman Leslie Moonves of sexual harassment and assault, as reports circulated that his negotiated departure from the network might be imminent.

Golden-Gottlieb said she hopes Moonves' punishment includes more than just his resignation as one of the most powerful media executives in the nation.

"We remain eager to fill this vacancy, and will invite CBS' new CEO to serve as a Commissioner once the Board of Directors selects Mr. Moonves' permanent replacement", Hill said in a statement.

CBS and controlling shareholder National Amusements Inc could not immediately be reached for comment on Sunday.

Under Moonves, CBS has been the No. 1 TV network in total viewers for 15 of the past 16 seasons.

The donation, which will be made immediately, will be deducted from any severance pay that CBS may owe Moonves.

Julie Chen was a no-show for The Talk's Season 9 premiere, the day after husband Les Moonves' firing from CBS, so that she could "be with [her] family" during this hard time.

"CBS's days as an independent public company are numbered", said Lloyd Greif, a Los Angeles-based investment banker who closely follows the company.

Last week, The Huffington Post's Yashar Ali reported that, after the Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake incident during the Super Bowl that aired on CBS, Moonves "was furious that Jackson didn't make a similarly contrite apology to him" and she became the "target of Moonves' ire and vengefulness", including ordering MTV, VH1, and CBS-owned radio to stop playing her music. CEO Les Moonves of sexual impropriety said Monday "he took my whole career".

Fox News senior judicial analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano on the fallout from the sexual misconduct allegations against former CBS CEO Les Moonves. In a statement to the New Yorker, Moonves acknowledged three of the encounters saying that they occurred before he joined CBS, but said that they were consensual.

He continued: "In my 40 years of work, I have never before heard of such disturbing accusations". I can only surmise they are surfacing now for the first time, decades later, as part of a concerted effort by others to destroy my name, my reputation, and my career. "We believe them", Times' Up said in a statement on Sunday. National Amusement would be allowed to push CBS to form a new board.

"Untrue allegations from decades ago are now being made against me that are not consistent with who I am", Moonves wrote in a statement of his exit.

"The tech companies are replacing these legacy media companies", he said.

"A man accused of rigorously reported allegations of harassment should not be rewarded with a golden parachute", said Time's Up, the group that sprung from last year's outpouring of workplace harassment claims.
