Ariana Grande breaks silence following Mac Miller's death

Just a couple of days after the devastating news of 26-year-old Mac Miller's death, his ex-girlfriend Ariana Grande has shared an emotional photograph of the rapper in happier times.

The Self Care rapper, real name Malcolm James McCormick, was found unresponsive at his San Fernando Valley, Calif., home, and was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities.

In the hours after Miller's death was first reported, it emerged that comments had been disabled on Grande's Instagram account, as she had been receiving abusive and upsetting messages from his fans.

Meanwhile, among the stars who took to social media to acknowledge the sad death of their peer, there was his ex-girlfriend Ariana Grande who chose to post a picture of him, without a caption.

The photo appears to have been taken by Ariana, 25, as she stands over him while he sits on a patch of grass gazing up at her.

I would like to dedicate this song to Mac Miller, who unbelievably, at 26 years of age, passed away yesterday. "There are no further details as to the cause of his death at this time".

The singer posted a stark black-and-white image of Miller gazing up at her.

Grande and Miller had dated for about two years before breaking up earlier this year.

Ariana addressed the breakup in an Instagram story, writing of Miller: 'I respect and adore [Malcolm] endlessly and am grateful to have him in my life in any form'. While conflicting schedules were blamed, reports emerged that Grande was concerned over Miller's substance abuse; he was arrested for DUI the following month.

Describing his relationship with Grande in 2016, Miller told People: "We hung out for a long time and everything just happened organically".

"I'm a very sensitive person... but this Mac Miller shit got me fucked up", Gambino said, according to Rolling Stone.

The pair remained loved up until May this year when they suddenly parted ways.
